The Pipes of Pan Adapted by Amy Friedman
A mythic tale of Pan the goat god born with a man’s head, guiding flocks with his pipes. Hermes shields him in a hare pelt as Syrinx transforms into a reed to escape his chase, inspiring Pan to craft a winded Syrinx instrument. The arcadian shepherds hear his music, fearing his fury yet cherishing his guardianship, while legends fade as Roman powers rise.
