ECISD Proposes Half Cent Tax Rate Cut and Health Clinic Plan
The Ector County Independent School District proposes lowering the tax rate by about half a cent to 1.4178 per 100 valuation, aiming to generate roughly $2 million more revenue than last year despite higher property values. A public hearing is set for Sept. 2 with a board vote on Sept. 16. The district plans building repairs with the extra funds and will open a pilot health clinic at AIM High School in partnership with Medical Center Hospital Texas Tech Health Sciences Center Odessa and Centers for Families and Children Midland, operating one day weekly on an income-based fee schedule and aiming to be self-supporting within three years.
