Odessa College to hold second tax rate hearing

Odessa College board held a second hearing on the 2011-12 tax rate in a different room with no public comments. Maintenance and operations stay at 15.84 cents per $100, while debt service adds 3.86 cents due to a $68.5 million bond plan approved by Ector County voters in 2010. An owner of a $92,638 home could pay $180.88 in OC taxes next year, up $38.30 from 2010-11, largely from the bond package used for campus construction and renovations. The Oct. 30 meeting in the Joe Zant Community Room will finalize the rate. Trustee Gary Johnson noted general approval and cited strong voter bond approval at 63.38 percent.
