Iran ship hijackers seek asylum in France
In Toulon France the leader of anti Khomeini Iranian hijackers who seized the 160 foot gunboat Tabarzin met French naval officials to discuss surrender. Cheysson said the vessel would return to Iran if surrendered and asylum for the hijackers was under study though Iran warned against refuge. The Tabarzin had been towed from Marseille and anchored off Toulon flying the imperial Iranian flag. A monarchist group spokesman said Adm Kamal Habibollahi was negotiating for fuel to continue.
