Danes Top Quality of Life Index Worldwide
Social researcher Richard Estes of the University of Pennsylvania released a quality of life index ranking 107 nations. Denmark ranked first, Ethiopia last, with the United States 41st and the Soviet Union 43rd. The study, covering 1979–80 and 1969–70, weighs health, literacy, women’s rights, stability, inflation, and growth, not just economics. Estes notes the US rise due to wartime and social changes, while fewer than half of the factors are economic. The findings will be presented in Brighton, England.
