Former Air Force officer fights return after don't ask policy

Michael Almy, a 41 year old former Air Force major, leads a legal challenge to reinstate those discharged under the don't ask don't tell policy. He and two other officers argue the policy's end should yield back pay and active service, seeking a federal appeals court ruling to uphold a lower court decision that the law was unconstitutional. Activists say thousands remain barred from rejoining despite meeting age and fitness standards. Almy was discharged in 2006 after a coworker read emails on a government computer during his Iraq deployment.
