Great Salt Lake at lowest level since 1980
The Great Salt Lake has dropped to its lowest level since 1980 due to heat and scant precipitation. Geologist Wallace Gwynn of the Utah Geological Survey says the lake is falling, with levels at 4,198 feet and likely to reach about 4,197 feet by December 1, raising land exposure and benefiting brine shrimp and salt industries through higher chemical concentration.
