Texas paid overtime to state workers tops $122M last year
The San Antonio Express News reports Texas paid $122 million in overtime to 56,948 state employees. The top overtime earner was a Department of Public Safety sergeant on Gov. Perry's security detail with $65,136 overtime plus $64,402 salary. DPS guards dominated top OT list, totaling about $499,000 in overtime. Security costs surged during Perry's 2011 presidential run. Over $23.6 million of OT was authorized by state or federal programs.

Henry Cook Jr 70 of Andrews died August 11, 2012 at home. Funeral services set for 2 p m at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Andrews West Cemetery. Survives include wife Patsy, sons James Todd Tommy and Danny Cook, brother Sam, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a retired Amoco employee and longtime Andrews County volunteer firefighter. He belonged to Means Memorial United Methodist Church.
