Dorm room decor sparks big retail boost this fall
Erica Green plans to spend over 500 on dorm furnishings at Goucher College as retailers like Target and J C Penney push colorful high tech items. The trend drives sales for home goods chains with services such as dorm registries and campus shuttle programs. National Retail Federation data show students spent 2.6 billion on dorm furnishings in 2004 plus 7.5 billion on electronics, averaging 260 09 per student.
