Smartphones Secretly Share Data With Third Parties
Lookout Inc scanned nearly 300,000 free iPhone and Android apps and found many secretly pull sensitive data such as contacts, photos, text messages and search histories and transmit it to advertisers and data analysts without user notification. A quarter of iPhone apps and almost half of Android apps contain code enabling data collection, raising privacy and security concerns.
