Mother held in son's death eluded authorities for years
In Houston a 23 month old boy died from malnutrition and dehydration prompting the arrest of his mother, Christy Castillo, on a murder by omission charge. CPS records show she appeared in at least 11 neglect complaints since 1998 while repeatedly moving with her children, evading investigators until the fatal incident. Castillo, 27, remains jailed as her 3 year old daughter was placed in CPS custody.Authorities note CPS had acted swiftly when reachable, but records indicate repeated failures to locate the family and verify addresses. Castillo had prior prostitution convictions and drug possession sentence, with multiple children removed and later returned.
