Dallas Museum to dismantle Stake Hitch sculpture
The Dallas Museum of Art plans to move the 53 1/2 foot Stake Hitch by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen into storage next week to make way for new exhibitions. The move, described as temporary, follows growth of the permanent collection and a centennial celebration next year. Artists and their attorney say removal undermines site specific work. the piece may return for at least a year before decade’s end.
