Judge moves trial of pediatric nurse Genene Jones

Kerrville AP The trial of nurse Genene Jones charged with murdering a 15 month old in Kerrville has been moved about 100 miles to Georgetown due to intense publicity. Judge Murray Jordan set Oct 17 and plans to call about 70 witnesses. Jones is also linked to a string of infant deaths at Medical Center Hospital in San Antonio.

Welfare chief to ask county for drug funds

Ector County Welfare Department Supervisor Betty Jo Sweetman planned to ask commissioners for 9000 to cover July through September medical and drug bills. The request, to be made at Monday's meeting, would be her final for the 1982 83 year ending Sept 30.
