Provisional ballots could swing Reeves County race
In Reeves County a countywide race hangs on 27 provisional ballots. Incumbent Sheriff Arnulfo Gomez trails challenger Arturo Granado by eight votes after the Democratic primary runoff, 49.85 to 50.15 percent, with 1,332 to 340 ballots counted. The final total rests with the voter registrar as 27 provisional ballots remain sealed to verify voter qualification. All 27 could be disqualified, officials say, leaving the outcome still uncertain.
