Oil Majors Post Record Q2 Profits Across Six Firms
Chevron and Total SA led a wave of strong results as six big Western oil companies posted combined second-quarter profits of $51.5 billion, with crude prices near double year-ago levels. Chevron reported $5.98 billion in quarterly profit on $82.9 billion revenue, while Total SA rose 38.7 percent to $7.38 billion. StatoilHydro also climbed 37 percent to $3.7 billion in net profits.
