Firefighters battled a large blaze in rugged Sierra foothills near Don Pedro Lake Moccasin California forcing about 2000 residents to evacuate. The 3500 plus acre fire spread rapidly under 100 degree heat with 4200 acre estimates by authorities and containment around 35 percent by afternoon. No injuries reported though a barn was lost and 700 firefighters faced challenging terrain and mine shafts while a separate Idaho fire burned nearly 4000 acres with campers evacuated.
