ECISD weighs middle school model to ease overcrowding
ECISD leaders presented six strategic plans including a shift to a middle school model. Chief of staff H T Sanchez contrasted TEA's learner divisions with ECISD's setup while nutrition rules were shown to fit the middle school framework. New arts chief Daniel Loudenback argued ninth grade belongs at high school, to boost programs, with enrollment pressures causing 101 percent capacity districtwide and 70 portables used this year. The board discussed options, timelines, and funding, with next week’s meeting expected to outline three potential plans and possible bond needs as the district projects future space and transitions.
