Odessa Woman Arrested in West 16th Street Shooting

An 18 year old Odessa woman Damaris Xelina Martinez was arrested on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a shots fired incident at 3:47 p.m. near Fall Avenue. Richard Mendoza Barriga reported shots directed at his residence. an arrest warrant exists for Ryan Michael Dominguez. Martinez held on $50,000 bond at Ector County Detention Center. Dominguez unnamed further details pending.

Teen to face trial next week in Walker Lumpkin death

A 14 year old charged with murder in the July 24 2011 death of 4 year old Walker Lumpkin at Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock is slated for a 9 a.m. Tuesday trial in Odessa. The case, involving blunt force trauma to the head after brain and skull surgery, has been delayed twice and will be closed to the public. Prosecutors Feliz Abalos and Luke Garrett will lead with defender Jason Leech.
