Division reports show vehicle burglaries having doubled since April with 50 to 75 reports monthly. July tallied 150 cases, June 168, May 142, as thieves break windows to steal purses CDs stereos cell phones and more from parked cars.
Clara Harris, a Houston dentist, is charged with murder after police say she ran over her husband David Harris, 44, with her Mercedes in what authorities call a fatal accident. Harris, free on 30,000 bond, told reporters the incident followed a staged video setup with a private investigator. Her arraignment is set later this month.
In Pecos County a Fort Stockton boy, Schyler Lee Fain, has been missing since Monday from a 25 acre farm. Volunteers have searched a 10 square mile area with no traces found. Investigators consider abduction possible as they widen the search beyond the farm and follow new leads.
