Mother Accused Of Killing Baby With Drug Laden Breast Milk
In Tucson a 24 year old mother Amoreti Powell and her 33 year old partner Robin Johnson face first degree murder charges after police say Powell transmitted heroin and methadone through breast milk, killing her seven week old daughter Eve.Authorities described multiple drug paraphernalia found at the home and indicated Eve died from oxygen deprivation linked to drug exposure. Both parents are charged with four counts of child abuse and held on one million dollars bond.

Judge fines treasure hunters for sea grass damage in Florida Keys
U S District Judge Edward B Davis ruled Salvors Inc and Kane Fisher responsible for destroying more than an acre of sea grass off the Ida Keys during a 1992 shipwreck hunt. They were ordered to pay 589331 dollars and surrender artifacts including an iron anchor and silver pieces. Mel Fisher was dismissed as a defendant but his company and Kane Fisher remain liable for penalties. The case marked the first sanctuary violation to go to trial since the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary was created in 1990 to protect nesting grounds and sea grass habitats off the coast.
