Boeing surprised by early 737 cracked fuselage in flight
Boeing officials said a Southwest 737-300 experienced a 5-foot hole in the fuselage while at 34,000 feet, though the plane was only 15 years old with 39,000 cycles. Southwest inspected nearly all grounded jets and found similar cracks. Boeing and the FAA issued service bulletin and orders for inspections starting at 30,000 cycles on 737-300, -400, and -500 models.

Retail adds jobs, not careers in 2008 to 2010 shift
Erin Abell left finance to volunteer for John McCain's 2008 campaign and later lived on credit cards before taking a part time Banana Republic job to cut debt. She earned less at 30 than in her early 20s and faced long hours with little job security as the retail sector grew. The recovery saw low wage jobs rise while high paying fields lagged, prompting concerns about family support and career quality amid uneven growth.
