Elian's Father Heads to U S for Custody Battle
Elian Gonzalez's father Juan Miguel Gonzalez will fly to the United States to seek custody of the six year old after months of international tensions. Attorney Gregory Craig said the reunion should proceed and custody transfer from Lazaro Gonzalez to the father will begin upon arrival. INS suggested a transfer process would be arranged, not immediate. Castro said the reunion could occur within days as supporters gathered in Havana and Miami.
