The grading of streets progresses with a large crew and multiple teams, hampered by slabs from old flood fills. Surveyor Jerrard Day notes completion will require time and more work, with hopes for Congress funding to maintain upkeep. The Catholic Fair by the Ladies Aid Society was the most successful ever, netting 540.20 more than any previous event. Proceeds will help repay the church debt from repairs made last summer, with members praising thorough effort and enthusiasm.

The log house once on the site is claimed to be the first house in the village and is being preserved by Shaffer who has had it destroyed on the rear end of his property. The new residence will add another fine home to the village.
B A Morrison of the village has four crews of carpenters remodeling his River Street residence. The project aims to be among the village’s finest. Ben has built a concrete block rear garage and owns a Ford automobile. An available gasoline launch is offered by Chequamegon Ice Co., Ashland Wis, solid oak 30 feet long 5 feet beam 8 hp engine in fine condition.
The Gitchee Gumee Club drew a large crowd last Monday for its final session of the year. Misses McDougal received enthusiastic praise for a selection, highlighting the two young performers as talented singers with promising futures. Inquiries for a 19 foot launch, one year old, 5 foot beam, canopy top, nine horsepower gray motor engine, are being directed to the Singer Sewing Machine Store or 119 Eleventh Avenue East in Ashland Wisconsin.
Manager Harto of Loyal Theatre earns praise for two quality serials Exploits of Elaine and Master Key and for high class Friday and Monday shows. Despite strong feature runs, attendance is below average, risking cuts unless patrons boost support. a refined vaudeville event is planned next Sunday.
The Star plans a large Farm Edition to showcase Indian agricultural achievements and future potential. Superintendent Everest and Commissioner Sells support the plan, noting the edition will illustrate past years’ accomplishments and aim to inspire other lands under cultivation on the reservation. They urge contact with any missed parties.
F G Smart and Agent Everest toured St Paul to arrange two carloads of beef cattle to be fattened on a 240 acre Bear Trap ranch this fall. Frank James of Birch and Smart together purchased about 100 head, pioneering this grazing plan on the reservation. The venture aims to add 100–200 pounds per animal in a single season and could expand with others joining in.
The party who took rent from the boat house of H. E. Halliday is identified and urged to return the item to the original boat house to avoid trouble.
