Evidence hunt for Masterson case in St. Croix Falls

Attorney Robert Kennedy, of Superior, Wisconsin, sought evidence in the William Masterson case. Kennedy secured new proof from Maggie Foster, an Indian girl, about liquor sales and an attempted assault. A council hall meeting reports a preliminary canvass showing about $50,000 subscribed toward a new co operative store in the village. Chairman C. E. Morrison leads efforts on by laws and organization papers as plans aim to begin operations this fall with shares at $10.09 each and limits on per person purchases.

Odanah Falls to Mellen in Seventh Inning Collapse

Odanah lost 6 to 3 to Mellen, dropping in the league standings. Quarders pitched well for Odanah until the seventh inning when a sequence of fielding errors allowed five unearned runs for Mellen. Mellen pitcher Doc Stanley held Odanah to seven hits while Odanah produced three two baggers off Stanley. The game ended with Mellen taking the lead in the decisive frame and Odanah’s slip costing the match.

Big Crowd Enjoys Lake Superior Outing
