The Odanah baseball team lost three straight to Park Falls on July 4 5 and 6 with scores 4 to 1 3 to 0 and 5 to 2. Errors and missed hits doomed Odanah in the opener while Frank Doolittle pitched well for Park Falls and Bum decisions by Park Falls aided the other wins.
The Town Board of San born seeks a license for the sale of malt and intoxicating liquors to be drunk on premises at N W 1 4 of N W 1 4 Sec 17 T R 4 W. Geo Rosevitz applies with Massachusetts Bonding and Insurance Co., Boston, Mass as surety, ced June 13 1913.

Henry Condecon and Mary Pine married last Wednesday morning at the Catholic church in the village. The groom hosted a large wedding dance at Rhodes Pavilion for friends and acquaintances, and well wishes were extended for a blissful married life.
Joseph Rabideaux fled the Superior jail last week while serving a ninety day term with twelve days remaining. He reportedly escaped while allowed to work in the yard, was captured near Messenger farm three miles east of town by Geo. Mitchell, and returned to Ashland. His sentence likely will be extended due to the escape.
Mrs Durant fell from the sidewalk on her way home near Cloud's store last Friday evening and sustained bruises including a badly sprained ankle. The incident highlights the need for street lighting due to darkness.
The Loyal Theatre announces an Up-to-the minute Vaudeville show for Sunday evening after apologizing for recent lighting issues. The manager states the lights are now in good order and promises a quality performance for the town each Sunday night.
Frank Greene arrives in St Paul to stock his five and ten cent store with a large daily supply. He announces new creations will appear on the shelves each day, ensuring fresh offerings for customers.
S. J. Talaska petitions the Town of Sanborn for a license to sell strong spirits malt ardent and other intoxicating liquors for on premise consumption at the NE NW 14 Sec 18 T 47 R 4 W. He names Massachusetts Bonding and Insurance Co. of Boston as bondsman. Dated June 13 1913.
A lost gold neck chain with pendant is offered by The Star for return to its office in exchange for a reward. An auto for hire is available and inquiries should be directed to Loyal Theatre. The Star claims it should be in every home in Odanah and urges subscriptions at 1.50 per year.
Antoine Denomie Jr returned from six months in Washington DC where he served as delegate for his band. He helped remove Indian Agent S W Campbell and described reforms against corruption. Denomie recounted hardships, Alaska success, and his belief in improved administration for Native people and common folk.
Indians from Odanah denounce an Ashland News article claiming they would eat dog at the July 4 Pow Wow. The piece, labeled a joke, prompted an apology from the 4th of July committee after M. J. Flannery raised the issue. The community asserts no such practice occurred and would have deterred participation.
Police chief Walter Scott takes a well earned vacation this week urging readers to treat themselves with a break. The Star promotes a $1.50 yearly subscription.
The Sanborn School Board voted to abolish School No 1 near Rhodes and transfer pupils to School No 8 which will add 9th and 10th grades. School No 1 building to be sold and a new school site planned three miles south of Ashland at Shores. New seats installed at No 8 and grounds prepared. Board adjourns for four weeks to prepare next year’s estimates.
A party including H E Holliday and others toured Ashland area to recruit Indians to the fall fair. They found most farms in good condition except two spots, with Reg Everest noting closer contact with farmers. The government bought a new automobile for Everest to visit every Indian farm personally.
A general council convened in the Council Hall lasting the afternoon to discuss town site repairs and other business. The delegates to Washington D C are to report what they accomplished during their stay there and will publish their findings next week.
Robert Robertson of the Cable Piano Co. opens a new Ashland store in the Wilmarth Block No 2 opposite Chequamegon Park displaying a dozen pianos and planning a full line including Buphona and inner player pianos. He invites Odanah friends to visit during his stay in town.
Garment dealer Jas. Reisch of Garland transacted business this week as new handmade outfits arrived. Norfolk style suits are highlighted as summer fashion staples with attractive prices and fine craftsmanship noted.
Sero of Ashland Wisconsin begins operation at Birch New Jersey with a mill capable of 15000 feet per day. He secured 1000000 feet of timber around Birch and plans to harvest bass birch hemlock and pine plus a lath mill. Lumber will be hauled to Birch for piling as James Bachand handles transport to the track. A Crystal theater show drew crowds last Thursday and another vaudeville night is planned with reels of pictures.
Thomas Buckley and Charlotte Durrant faced Municipal Court in Mondav after Ashland arrests for disorderly conduct, each fined 20 dollars plus costs. Riley Bressette received a 60 day sentence for drunkenness and disorderly behavior. Buckley was ordered off the reservation after being found with whiskey.
C. D. Armstrong W. D. Denomie S. F. Denomie and Antoine Couture went to Washington this spring and filed their expense accounts with Indian Agent Everest in Ashland Tuesday.
Maurice Wilcox and his Duluth wife visited Mr. and Mrs. John Shaffer in the village for several days. Wilcox, a telephone company collector, was recently disclosed as married. Previously, Wilcox and Elsie Carroll of Bayfield were wed in Duluth and now reside there.
The launch Possibly owned by Wm. La Pointe recently completed repairs and entered the water. On Sunday July 20 the F. R. A. lodge charters it for a Lake Superior picnic. The lodge is working to ensure a pleasant day for attendees.
