Accident at company farm claims single victim

Last Tuesday morning at the company farm east of the village John Ilmini was crushed when a loaded car on a grade rolled onto him while he and a partner moved lumber. He died about six hours after the accident. He was 32, married, with a wife and children. Burial was in Hurley. He belonged to the F. R. A. Lodge and had life insurance.

Big Day at the Lake Draws Crowds to Lake Superior

On Sunday a large crowd enjoyed bathing at the lake with about 95 percent of citizens taking part. The beach is praised as exceptionally good for 75 yards offshore safety. Plans include cleaning the grove, creating a picnic grounds, and building a bathing house to accommodate crowds, predicting weekly turnout will grow.

Children of Mr Lahay were with her, villagers notified the search, and she was recovered with the children. Due to advanced age she faced exposure risks. She was brought home by Mr Lahay and Miss Ethel Swift who has returned from the east.

Mrs Joseph Rosseau entertained many friends Tuesday afternoon with a delicious lunch. She received flowers and a pleasant visit. Ashland Police Round Up Misconduct Suspects

Ashland police report Jah Dougherty and Mrs Ged Molligan charged with misconduct after a raid near the city. Sheriff Darmady took Mrs Morrison into custody for a ninety day jail sentence, with both Dougherty and Molligan facing severe sentencing in county court. Morrison recently returned from a Rochester Minnesota hospital after an operation. Mr Morrison may pursue separation but will not press charges against the pair.

Death in Jatt Silent Tuberculosis Victim Fred Lafreniere

Fred Lafreniere died Saturday in Jatt after three years with tuberculosis. He was 33, born in Ludington Michigan, and lived in Jatt 15 years. He worked for J S Stearns Lumber Co and in the company store as clerk and meat cutter. Survived by wife and two children, his mother Selma Lafreniere of Ludington, sisters Mrs Will Dorsch of Ludington and Mrs Fred Seneca of Monteno, and brother Edward Lafreniere of Snohomish. Funeral Monday in Jatt with burial at Catholic Cemetery.

Death of Elmer Pennock in Appetdicitas Village

Elmer Pennock aged 42 died suddenly last Sunday at his home in Appetdicitas. He had been ill briefly. the family opened and praised the place. Funeral was held Wednesday at the Catholic Church with burial in the Catholic cemetery. The Pennock parents receive community sympathy.
