Timber Sale on Bad River Reservation and Possible Mill
The act allows, sixty days after approval of the roll, the Interior Secretary to sell merchantable timber on the Bad River Reservation. If a fair price isn’t offered, the Secretary may build and operate a saw mill or mills on the reservation to convert timber to lumber. Proceeds from previous timber sales, excluding $500,000, may fund the mill(s). Construction cost for any mill shall not exceed $5,000.
