Oakes Republican dated Friday March 28 1880 serves as the official county newspaper for Dickey County North Dakota published by Western Printing Company. Names J W Liens Smo and Treas E 5 Gitsert Epior appear among staff details.
The City Convention meets in Gorder's Hall on Wednesday April 2 at 8 p.m. to nominate one Police Justice and handle other proper business. Local residents are invited to participate and cast votes for the district's next public officer.
The first ward caucus convenes Saturday March 29 at 7 PM in Gorder's Hall to nominate one City Council member and one Beara lot Education representative. A second caucus follows at 8 PM at Laird, Norton Co office to nominate one City Council member and two Board of Education members. C M Borstorp, 2nd Ward Chairman.
The third ward caucus will be held Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at the School house to nominate one Alderman and one member of the board of education. C. A. Baker, Chairman 3d Ward Com.

Weather compares Dakotas and Washington boom, with wages in woods high, meat cheap, and overall appeal mixed for a poor man aiming to advance.
Local notes report wedding cards sent for Cale Stoddard and Mary Wilder. Farmers anticipate large spring sowing. Frank Ladd visited Ellendale this week. Stoddard and Wilder men returned from lumber woods. A four year-old colt broke a leg near recent field work. Maggie Wilder and Della Ladd returned from Ellendale where they attended school. J M Davis returned to his farm from Ellendale. family to follow soon.
The W C T U met for the first time since fall adjournment due to cold weather. Hawley Short's bicycle act entertains students at noon and recess. H O Walter was seen on the streets. A Thursday prayer meeting drew a lively crowd. Mrs Wayne Stanley came from Sargent. Jacob Scheidagger and Claus Wilander travelled to Oakes. Carl Hample hosts Minneapolis visitors. Services resume Sunday at 3 PM at the schoolhouse.
Snow storms have visibly changed farmers' appearances. J McPhail's daughter remains ill with bronchitis. George Burroughs' baby is dangerously ill with lung trouble. Oscar Bint plans farming this year after returning from Minnesota. W H Thompson arrived from Rodney Ohio with his daughter and brother, reporting a wet winter and blooming fruit trees. The local photographer of Oakes offers warranted work.
For rent a G Laurie building on Union street area opposite Odell's hardware store. Also two dwelling houses require of E Baldwin.
Notice that all watches and repairing items left at E Wixgoxn store must be removed before May 1 as the business will be closed.
