Two Men Die In Sandstone Handling Accident
At Big Stone City on Tuesday two men named Mueller and Westgreen were struck by a falling boom while loading a 3.5 ton sandstone block onto a flat car with a steam derrick. The derrick cable broke and the boom crushed them. Mueller suffered multiple fractures and a skull fracture while Westgreen sustained a forehead trauma penetrating the brain.

Lottery bill revival fails after large offers
On Wednesday an effort to resurrect the lottery bill failed. Advocates pledged 150000 dollars annually to the state and 250000 bushels of seed wheat to needy farmers, to be repaid in the fall at par. A 200000 dollar security deposit was required for performance. House vote 23 to 81 against. Senate 18 to 11 for.
