The Ellendale board of county commissioners met July 9 10 12 1894 for equalization. Oaths were sworn for members F L Walker W E Kellogg H B Homedew N W Bucklin and S B Thompson. They reviewed assessors returns adjourned until afternoon then reduced or increased real estate values across townships and adjusted transfers and abatements. Bills were approved and warrants drawn. several tax abatements and property redistributions were ordered.
County commissioners meet in session on July 11 1894 adjourn to 9am July 12 Board of Equalization reconvenes with all members present Personal property equalization completed and changes ordered to township assessments Salaries for county officers listed Including County Judge State Attorney County Superintendent of Schools and tax levies set Refund issued for delinquent road tax paid by FP Teel and abatement granted for W H Marks whose property was outside the county on May 1st

Mr and Mrs J P Nelson and Mrs Coolidge of the Spur spent Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs J G Reeves. Mrs Coolidge and son left for Fairfax Minn Monday. August Weinlund is improving his windmill with a new coat of paint.

Farmers in Verner continue haying as crops ripen and harvest nears. E Rockwell from Kansas City plans to spend the rest of summer locally. A ball game left two men with black eyes last Saturday evening. Mrs L B Pedley visited friends recently. Fernando Wood returned from Veblon reporting poor crops there. J W Phifer has notable business west of the river this summer. Miss Maria Dill visits George Phifer’s family. J J Phanco went to Harlem on business. A B Short erected a new windmill on his farm. George Lea returned from Lisbon to help harvest.
