Disaster in Minneapolis Lumber District Sweeps City
Aug. 14 Minneapolis suffered its worst fire in memory, destroying five sawmills two wagon works and numerous factories, and 160 dwellings. The flames razed Nicollet and Boom islands, with 10,000,000 feet of lumber lost and property damage around $1,190,000 aided by insurance of $750,000. One man died and several firemen injured. relief totaling $2,000 was approved for victims.
