Webster fled after claiming Goodwin was ill. Both men were known as sporting men with racehorse holdings and had recent personal strain over Mrs Webster.
A Friday night dance in Blue Mountain, Durango Colorado, ended in violence when Tom Roach, drunk and armed, killed cowboy William McCord after stabbing Frank H Hyde. Roach fled. a boy retrieved a Winchester and fired at Roach wounding Mrs Walton. Roach remains at large.
Edward Hayes dies and J B Brown is critically ill after drinking poisoned liquor on a railway train in Norwood Massachusetts. They shared a whist game with two strangers who passed around a pint bottle, Brown collapsed at Norwood central, Hayes later died near Winslow station, motive stated as mystery.
