Strike at World’s Fair grounds ends after council talks

The strike by 4 500 workers at the world’s fair grounds ended after a two committee session. Non union workers must be treated equally and 2 000 contractors must sign the agreement. Police escorted delegates from the grounds after attempts to induce quitters. One day’s lost work and time delays remain, with negotiations to resume at dawn.

Veteran Minnesota judge chosen for pensions post

Fire destroys two Lincoln livery stables and stock

A morning fire with strong wind swept through northwest Lincoln destroying seven buildings. Two livery stables housed valuable stock and over 50 horses perished. Walter Bohamis alone lost 20 horses valued at about 10 thousand dollars, and Walter Bros of Peoria had shipped 38 head of blooded horses for auction.
