Oak Park updates show frequent visits from out of town as Mrs. L. B. Ruce hosts in North Waller and Miss Marie Moore heads to Dundee for teaching. Mrs. Clara A. Alexander returns from Pan-American, and Miss Willa Crockett wed Evan L. Reed in Oregon Indiana. Several residents travel for Pan-American exposition and fishing trips.

An errand boy aged nine was killed instantly last Wednesday evening while crossing Illinois Central tracks. He worked at the Cushing stables. Both parents are dead. An inquest is set for Friday at Drechsler's undertaking establishment.

J D Ambrose who left Oak Park and started a newspaper at Cisama Park Illinois complains of handicaps: a printer missing and an office boy quitting. He says the First National Bank is backing him and neighbors share the loss. A heavy rain delayed hoped for vegetation benefits, costing the county an estimated two million dollars.
Mrs Alma L Whate a thirteen year Austin resident died last Monday at her home at 48th and Lake Street from tuberculosis. She left husband Mr Whale and four children aged 2 7 9 and 42. The family held industrial life insurance except her. The death was attributed to a needless medical error by a local doctor.
Between 2 and 4 on Monday morning the Cicero Lumber Co office at Central Avenue and the Great Western tracks in Austin was broken into and a safe blown with dynamite. Only $10 recovered. Police report a small piece of dynamite and a golf cap left by the burglars as the sole clues.
Oak Park residents packed the town hall Tuesday night to urge or oppose a loop ordinance. Speakers from property groups pressed for better transit under a five cent fare with express service, while others warned of street occupancy and damages to Harlem. The board schedules a Thursday session after a long debate led by John Lewis and Jesse Baldwin.

The Kaffee Klatch met at Mrs. Charles Porter’s home in River Forest last Friday. Mrs. B. J. Smith of 528 North Pine Ave Aust in was chosen president for the coming year. The twelve member group meets each month for recreation with hosted luncheons and occasional theater outings.
Mrs May Baldwin and Martin have moved from 412 South Fifty-third Street, Austin, where a furnished residence showed unusual splendor, to Elllis Avenue near Thirty-eighth Street in the city.
Mr D A Thatcher returned from Duluth and the lakes. School opened with teachers and pupils. Mrs Hatch returned from summer vacation. Rev Johnson of the Presbyterian Church came back from Wisconsin. Mr F T Townsend of Iowa visits son George B Townsend on Lathrop Avenue. Mr and Mrs Goldsmith go to Bay View Michigan to escape hay fever. L E B Moore’s baby is very sick. Mrs Johnson, wife of Rev Johnson, is in a sanitarium at Oconomowoc Wisconsin. Mr and Mrs George T Houser return from Indianapolis to River Forest. Prof and Mrs John Adams, recently moved to Park Avenue, had a house warming party last Saturday.
The Chicago Telephone Co buys 30 feet on Marion street north of Park Hotel, intends to construct there instead of North Boulevard. Property, formerly owned by Oak Park W T U, sold for 125 dollars per foot. Real estate man Frank H. June orchestrated the deal, linked to many local improvements.
C. H. Moses of 300 Forest Avenue who heads the Chicago Telephone Co. right of way drove his car from Milwaukee to Oak Park last Sunday in under six hours. He met very bad roads and arrived with a battered machine.
Mrs. Jesse Pursley fell from her back porch at 117 North Park Avenue in Austin to the ground about eleven feet. The injury looked serious but officials now believe she will survive.
