The Austin Business Men's Association led a call for civic backing to aid the police department. The Neighborhood Protection Society would greatly assist law enforcement in reducing burglary activity in Plymouth Place and surrounding areas.

Obituary: Walter L. Adams Dies in Austin

Walter L. Adams died September 18 after a career in Chicago glass business and as a leading tenor in Bishop Fallows church. Born June 18 1848 in London England he later lived in Toronto and across the United States before settling in Austin with widow Madge Adams and sons Lysle Alfred and Willis. Funeral was held at the family home September 22 and interment followed at Forest Home cemetery.

Corner Stone Laid for Oak Park First Presbyterian Church

The corner stone of the new First Presbyterian church at Oak Park was laid Sunday afternoon with an address by Professor David C. Marquis of McCormick Theological Seminary who helped organize Oak Park’s first congregational church. The stone was placed by pastor Rev. Dr. Charles S. Hoyt. A second corner stone was laid for the Third Congregational church at Forest and Augusta streets at 3:30 p m with Rev. Henry W. Stough as pastor and Rev. W. D. MacKenzie delivering the principal address. the project is described as a very creditable building with a large membership.
