Explosion Destroys Aus tin Church Injures Missionary
An oxy hydrogen gas explosion in the First Presbyterian Church of Austin injures George W. Leitch, a missionary returning from India and Ceylon, blowing off his right hand and injuring his brother James. The accident occurred during preparations for a stereopticon lecture on Ceylon and India, when a leaking gas tank ignited.

First Murder Reported in Oak Park Hotel Kitchen
The first Oak Park murder occurred last Saturday in the Hotel Plasa kitchen. George Spiller, a Black waiter, fatally stabbed Lester Lette after an alleged dispute over a White servant girl. Lette died from loss of blood at the county hospital. Spiller was captured near Madison Street in Austin and jailed to await Criminal Court action.

Explosion levels church injuring man and prompting rescue
A Sunday evening blast at a church in Austin wrecked the middle tier of seats and blew out large leaded glass windows. George Thompson, O Carson, and Lars Nigren were near the auditorium when the explosion occurred. The injured man received medical care and later had his hand amputated. The damage was estimated at 1500 dollars with no applicable insurance.
