Angus D Gilbert was hanged in Boston for the murder of eight year old Alice Sterling who vanished April 10 1895 from 47 Savin Hill Avenue Dorchester. He confessed after discovery of the body in a barn cellar and was found sane by doctors before trial. The case drew a large crowd and ended with a first degree murder verdict and execution.
Miss Ella Bissing of Milford Connecticut sought a permit to wear male attire to court a candy drummer named Harry Cavanagh. She used a fictitious name and was granted the permit but was discovered and abandoned the plan. Louis P Noros of Fall River Massachusetts claims trousers from the Jeannette expedition and asks for possession of the oil skins.
Mrs Bella F Lovett sues her father in law and mother in law Mr and Mrs Henry Lovett of Boston in superior court for 25000 damages for alienating her husband Albert B Lovett from her. The suit claims the husband was told he would be disinherited if he did not leave his wife. He allegedly followed his mother to Boston leaving his wife destitute.
