School board bars living names for schools in 1897

At the adjourned June 15 meeting of district No. 1 the board resolved no school building or public school property should bear the name of a living person. It also opposed naming in memory of a deceased citizen in a small community due to jealousy. Yet it expressed record with the citizens at a recent meeting that the new Ontario street school be named The William Beye School in honor of the late associate on the board. A report on Oak Park high school graduation exercises set for June 17 was postponed to next week.
