Harlem Village Board approves beer bottling license fee ordinance

A special meeting last Saturday approved a beer bottling license fee of 500.00 dollars in Harlem Village. Trustee Schultz opposed the measure as too high, warning it could shift bottling to saloonkeepers. The ordinance bars new bottling only in the prohibition district without a majority peti tion from voters in the district. Present bottlers are Barreesheen Kuriten and Mesecke with others at new race tracks. The board later conferred with Twelfth street property owners over the Cicero Proviso Electric Railroad franchise, with promises to build to the city in five years but no consent given.
