Cicero Town Board Hears Fiscal Year and Plank Walk Plans
Cicero Town Board met January 20 1900 with President Lewis and trustees present. They discussed approving prior minutes, appointing a municipal ownership commission, fining Belz under health laws, an ordinance for the fiscal year and several street and sidewalk plank walk projects in Cicero and Berwyn. Oaks Club Notes Minstrels February Show
The Oaks Club ladies rehearse a February minstrel show directed by Mr. Harry Brown. The Monday night dramatic entertainment is postponed to February 14. Wednesday’s clubhouse party featured twenty nine tables, after which cards, supper, and informal dancing followed.
Grand Cake Walk and Ball at Library Hall Austin
A grand cakewalk and ball will be held in Library Hall Austin on Tuesday evening February 6 1900. The Caldwell and Henry comedians will attend and perform. They are described as comical Black performers and will provide continuous humor throughout the event.

Strom Gifts Bell to Swedish Lutheran Church
At a Feb 3 social in the Swedish Lutheran Church vestry, about 200 attendees celebrated the church’s new building. Pastor J N Brandelle announced that A A Strom would donate the bell for the tower, prompting hearty applause. The church reports show over $6,000 in receipts for the year, with the Ladies Aid Society raising nearly $475. A sacred concert under the Finance Society, featuring Paris-trained soloist(s), a Lake View male chorus, and a children's quartet, is planned for Saturday evening.
