The Alma Social Club votes to hold an annual ball on Jan 14 1897 at Renbergs hall Forty-eighth and Indiana Moreland to fund a proposed building. The Comus Club met Dec 11 with prizes awarded and refreshments served at Mrs George H Brown's. Perry appointed flagman at Willow avenue crossing faces harsh weather as shanties in yards could shelter him.

Death of Major Gree at home of daughter Vip

Major Gree, aged seventy on his seventeenth birthday, died at his daughter's home Vip. Naricis in Monday week. He was a builder and contractor who helped erect a dry levee and organized a private company. He served as first lieutenant and later led his company for three years. He was twice wounded at Chickamauga and discharged in October. Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Eh We Newton with Rev Cavon Taylor officiating. The body was interred at Rienei with floral tributes and pallbearers from local posts.

Olympic theater offers top vaudeville acts in Chicago

Clyde residents await a charity performance by the Oak Park Choral Society at Clyde MM, K. University Extension Meeting in Austin Branch Adopts Plan

The Austin University Extension Center advisory council met December 8 at Mrs. Thormdyke’s home with nineteen attendees. Officers Gilbert president Birek secretary Will Osgood treasurer Miss Maclean and Mrs. Thormdyke composed the executive committee. Delegates from multiple societies attended. several church groups had not yet appointed delegates. They discussed deficit reduction and entertainments, with no immediate library plans.

The Harlem village board convened Saturday with all members present. New bills totaling 560.86 were referred to committees. water rent receipts reached 534.89 with taps at 37.50. November treasurer’s balance stood at 3127.67. bills to pay 263.53. board adjourned for December 26, 1886.
