Agnes Smith an 18 year old stepdaughter of James Lister residing five miles east of Whilton died after a road cart wreck when a horse bolted and dragged her under the wheels. Her younger sister escaped unharmed. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon and left the elder with fatal injuries.

A west bound Columbian express derailed two miles east of Lima Ohio Wednesday. A dining car overturned into a freight engine, killing cooks Manuel and Augustus and fireman P J Nulf. Dozens injured including Judge Reynolds Mrs Richmond and Mrs Smith. Rescue delayed. some fatalities may rise.

Dallas of Pennsylvania Nathan Golf of West Virginia William H. Taft of Ohio William A. Woods of Indiana Warren Truitt of Oregon to the United States circuit benches and Alaska district. Putnam, a Portland Democrat and former mayor, ships. Shipman has served in Connecticut since 1873. Dallas, a Philadelphia lawyer of the Dallas family, comes from Pennsylvania. Woods is Indiana’s current district judge. Golf is a former Navy secretary and congressman. Taft is solicitor general.
Michigan Secretary of State Daniel K Soper resigns at midnight after Mayor Frank I Johnson filed charges of malfeasance and misfeasance in office. Accused of buying unnecessary supplies for personal profit, giving away state documents, including Howells Statutes, and demanding 500 from his deputy. Gov Winans accepted the resignation immediately.
Irwin Pennsylvania December 17 The Irwin bank failed to open after a shutdown and went into assignment by P S Pool and Son the owners. Officials say deposits will be paid in full despite $75 000 to $100 000 drawn in the week amid feverish excitement.
A fire swept Seoler's jewelry store and Mississippi Fruit Company outlets on Tuesday. Chief O'Connor was knocked unconscious by an electric shock when water struck a live wire while he aimed a nozzle. Fireman Hannan seized the nozzle and instantly collapsed from the current, as both men suffered the full electric force during the blaze.
