Officer Sam Gaylord pursued and captured Frank Warren an 18 year old thief after a chase from Lincoln Park to Madison and Willow streets. Warren denied stealing but a recovered wheel was traced to a Thirty-fifth Street owner. Warren’s home is 1457 West Monroe.

Nine members of the West Side police were discharged Tuesday by order of the chief. The records show Samuel Gaylord Charles Krueger John Hohmann Nels Osterling Arthur Hale and John Halseberg Joseph Ginger Charles Abbott and George Andrew. The chief cited lack of civil service standing and said replacements were appointed. He noted the men had passed civil service exams but the backlog and annexation errors affected appointments.

He was eighteen, born in Sweden, worked at Northwestern car shops, lived with his brother at Forty eighth avenue. Funeral was held Friday August 10 from Dreschler’s Oak Park undertaking establishment.
