Burglars Take Jewelry From Laubender Home
Thieves entered John F. Laubender’s house at 449 North Kenilworth avenue last Sunday evening while the family was away. They took jewelry and clothing valued at about 200 dollars, left burnt matches and a ransacked residence, and no trace of the burglars was found by police.

Mockler Killed In Santa Fe Railroad Wreck
William Mockler of 318 South Harvey avenue was killed Monday in a Santa Fe railroad wreck. His body arrived in Oak Park Tuesday morning. He died from loss of blood after a severed leg. Funeral held Thursday at Mount Carmel with service at St. Catharine's in Austin. Survived by wife and six children. His son J. B. Mockler serves in Company D Sixth Infantry. Wells Fargo employee and floral tribute from the company.

Fire damages planing mill at Bedard Morency plant
A noon fire broke out in the Bedard Morency Mill Co planing mill at Lake street and Lombard avenue. Smoke and flames appeared from sawdust under a planing machine as workers prepared for dinner. The fire department extinguished the blaze with minimal damage, estimated at about ten dollars.
