Nutley residents visit destinations from Long Beach to Lake Hopatcong and New York. Locals host guests from Newton and Washington, D C. The Nutley Council Jr O U A M offers a Town Hall entertainment on October 2 and a September 28 smoker. libraries reopen September 6.
The Povvershon Lawn Tends Club hosts its annual Markham Cup event on Lattor Day with Dr. David Bishop seeking a three year straight to claim the trophy. His main foe is Dr. H. H. Heywood with Mr. Edgar Clements also a finalist contender. Finals in the doubles feature Heywood and Washbourne versus the Bishop brothers. spectators welcomed.
Nutley Club dominated Clinton A C Woodside as Small pitched well and Hawkins provided support with a home run. Final score 23 to 5. Liberty A C of Newark slated to visit Nutley this afternoon with two Labor Day games against Carlstadt A C in the forenoon and afternoon.
Kempton Council held a meeting on Monday night with two membership applications presented. September 19 is Application Night and about fifteen applications are expected. A class inflation will occur September 22. A fraternal visit to Orange Council in Orange NJ is planned for Tuesday September with a trolley trip leaving Masonic Hall at 8 PM.
Rev. Elam M. Garton returns from vacation to preach at morning service on The Approach of Christ and the Lord's Supper. Evening service at 7 45 with Take Ye Away the Stone. Classes and leagues in session including Sunday School at 9 30, Epworth League Vesper at 7, and Wednesday prayer meetings.
Nutley Realty Co advances Nutley Park east of Passaic avenue in North Woods direction with W A Lamberk aiming to complete most improvements by fall and park by spring. The project promises broad winding streets shade trees entrances and upgraded sewers near rail stations and electric cars appealing to homeseekers. A new booklet will describe the property as transit improvements between Nutley and New York shorten.
An Erie rail yard accident occurred on Kingsland street when three box cars and the locomotive leader derailed during a flying switch by a switchman. The derailment blocked the passenger track and required a wrecker to clear the scene. Conductor Boyd was slightly injured while other crew members escaped unharmed.
Rev. J. W. Morgan of Newark New Jersey will preach at 11:00 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Sunday School meets at 9:45 a.m. and the Young Peoples Meeting at 7:00 p.m. Next Sunday the 9th inst features Rally Day with special quartet music.
A Nutley resident declares candidacy for the Town Council from the Second Ward on the Republican ticket. He emphasizes dedication to ward interests, qualified to serve, and willingness to act for the town’s welfare in general legislation if elected.
Last Saturday on Chestnut Street near Hillside Avenue an automobile frightened the Kierstead horse causing a wagon overturn. Mr. Charles H. Kierstead suffered a severe head bruise and Mrs. Kierstead was shaken. both were attended by Dr. Philhower. The horse was recaptured and returned to its stable.

West Nutley Country Club secured a one year lease for Maxonic Hall to host winter and fall dances plays and entertainments for members and friends. A circulating library tag and a planned Woman's exchange will benefit year round. The terrace fete on August 18 drew many and thanks were given for patronage. Next meeting is September 8 at 2 oclock at Masonic Hall.
On a complaint from Councilman dnerg to Recorder Post warrants were issued for the arrest of Lawrence Kingsland Daniel Lacey and Edward Woods. They were arrested by Chief Elinabb and sent to the County Jail to await trial in Juvenile Court before Judge Len Eyck of Newark. The trio and others raided Joerg's Kingsland street property stealing grapes and misusing language when asked to leave.
