Nutley team defeated a Dover beam 2 games to 1 on Central alleys Monday evening. Nutley’s Dr A H Van River captained the visitors and posted the highest score 221. The Nutley Board of Education met Tuesday night. Superintendent Meredith reported enrollment rose by eleven from last month while attendance stayed strong. The library program will continue weekly through Christmas. Mayor Brown was appointed to oversee the school census at four cents per name. Alumni Athletics asked to use Park School auditorium for winter basketball two nights weekly, pending expense coverage. The memorial tablet committee reported trouble obtaining correct veteran names, and the board then entered executive session.
The West Nutley Country Mab and friends held a baro dance at Masonic Hall on Thursday night with rural costumes and grotesque figures. The ballroom featured autumn leaves and pumpkins, each lamp shaded by a pumpkin with a carved face, and larger pumpkins with candles lighting the room. About sixty members and guests attended.
The Forteiguty club hosted an opening reception and dance at the club house on Thursday evening the 10to-last. A large number of visitors attended and enjoyed a high class musical program with dancers. A collation followed the dance and the evening was described as very enjoyable.
St Pauls Congregational Church schedules Sunday Bible School at 9 45 a m followed by sermon by Rev G A Hulbert sermon topic Christian Authority. Young Peoples Society meets at 7 p m with preaching at 7 40 p m resuming a series on the Ten Commandments titled The Fifth Commandment. Mid week service Wednesday at 8 00 o clock. All welcome seats free.
Nutley officials debate suppressing roaming goats after complaints from the Nutley Improvement Society about damage to young trees in the eastern district. A plan to curb animal trespass is discussed as an ordinance draft. Trolley safety and service issues surface along Franklin avenue and Myrtle avenue while roadworks on Myrtle progress. A committee is to review the old stone house offer for a town museum and library.
The last meeting of the club was at Mrs. J. G. Gothwaite’s home on the 23d lnst with several guests. Readings by Kinsley Jackson Rosenstock St. Joan Slausger Howe Lewis Wigg Brown and Rea. Solos by Louis P. B. Taylor Humphrey trigs by Carr Prior and Little. Next meeting at Mrs. Albert F. Jackson’s Frankiie avenue on November 6 to discuss The Problem of Tenement House Districts chaired by Mrs. Joseph D. Little.
Grace Episcopal Church held All Saints Day services with Holy Communion at eight o clock in the morning. Address and remarks were delivered by Mr John W Wood secretary of the Mission Board of the Episcopal Church at one o clock in the morning.
New petition from citizens prompts Town Council to seek company cooperation. Councilman William N Halsey discusses with public service officials and obtains commitment to honor request. Company agrees to run first car from corner, with schedules continuing while patronized.
On Sunday the Reformed Church holds service with Rev. William Stuart at 11:00 a.m. The morning sermon is titled Mystic Fellowship and the evening topic Learns. A Sunday School session runs at 9:45 a.m. The Sons and Daughters of the King meet around 7:44 p.m. A prayer meeting is planned for Wednesday at an evening time.
Mrs Lena Larch aged 64 of New York died Tuesday night at her son-in-law Charles Le Messer’s residence in Sylvan Place while visiting her daughter. Funeral Friday at eleven o clock with burial in Lutheran Cemetery on Long Island. New stationery styles from Eaton Hurlburt’s fine stationery hall Pharmacy.
