A Board report notes nine teen infantile paralysis cases in the town with progress from recovery. Two remain paralyzed in all limbs, one cannot walk, two weak in one limb, and one uses a head brace. One adult aged thirty-two is stricken.
Edward P. Adams of Passaic was struck by a freight or passenger train near the Van Houten street station. His mangled body lay along the tracks for feet before identification by a letter in a coat pocket. Adams left a widow and five children and had been a designer employed in New York who recently started his own business. Mrs Adams was recovering from a trolley accident a few days earlier.
At a Wednesday Atlantic City session of the State Council of the Jr. C. U. A. M. Adjutant General E. T. Humphrey of this town received a cut glass water set. The gift honors his service as Grand Marshal of the Newark parade held October 13.
Fragmentary notes indicate the Minutemen fraternity, connected with St. Pauls, held a gathering at Herbert Reyes home. The text is garbled and incompletely preserves who spoke and what was discussed.
A town hall meeting on changing Nutley station names drew a large crowd as the Board of Trade pressed for a shift to Nutley named stations. The Commission delayed action after argument from opponents led by Col Prout, and agreed to study the issue, with Erie Railroad and the Public Utilities Board potential next steps.

George Davis formerly of this town married Miss Flossie La Clatr at Keene New Hampshire last Sunday night by Rev W L Chanad. Mr and Mrs Davis will reside at College Point.
The annual Lecture on Christian Science, under the auspics of the local Church, drew a good sized audience at Town Hat bey Bicknell. Mr. Young stated that intelligence exists in all thinking beings and is not limited to any race or creature, with God and science fundamentally linked in Christian Science.
The Woman's Club elected Mrs. William J. Kinsley Mrs. Edwin C. Sharp Mrs. William Badge and Mrs. George B. Philhower as delegates to the semi annual state federation meeting at Ridgewood on October 28 with alternates Mrs. Perley A. Proit Mrs. T. H. Sterling Mrs. Charles B. VandeWater and Mrs. George B. Douglas. The chrysanthemum tea was postponed.
A Democratic rally is set for next Friday night in the Town Hall auditorium. Speaker lineup includes H. Ottawittpenn, gubernatorial candidate Eugene F. Kinkead for Congress in the Eighth District, John O. Bigelow for State Senate, and John J. Van Order for supervisor, among others.
The Woman's Exchange has relocated to 127 Chestnut Street and now accepts orders for bread rolls and cakes. The shop offers home made jellies preserves pickles jams knitted sweaters baskets handmade rugs children's embroidered dresses ladies accessories and other items. Public urged to visit.
Mrs. Douglas P. Falconer was chosen president for the unexpired term at the Social Service Bureau meeting in the Woman's Club. New officers include Mrs. Hay as vice president and James L. Miller as treasurer. Three executive posts were filled with Caverly succeeding Miss Nairn. An entertainment and dinner were planned for Christmas week with Mrs. Longfelder as committee chair. Arthur McDougall from the Newark Bureau of Associated Charities spoke on expanding living standards and relief efforts.
A baggage room fire at West Nutley Station early yesterday morning caused about $1,000 in damage, confined to the room by firefighters. Patrolman Thomas Mautren alerted the blaze found near a heater and wiring. five bags of dye staffs for Century Color Co. were damaged, valued at $850. Temporary repairs started. permanent fixes may be done by a local contractor.
The Yantacan Chemical Engine Co protested a rejected cleaning of the fire department matter, stating it had not passed through the secretary of the department. At Thursday night’s meeting the protest was indorsed and sent to the town commissioners. Secretary Hugh Hallidy resigned and Albert C. Keyser was appointed to fill the position.
Edmund Burke Osborne Republican candidate for State Senator will speak tomorrow at Grace Church at 11 o clock on The Needs of the Practical Educator. He heads the American Color Type Co and the Osborne Calendar Co and is a member of the State Board of Education.
The Grace Church committee of organ recitals will not issue single tickets for a week or two due to high demand for the full series. Subscriptions already total many, risking no seats for individual ticket holders. Two solicitors helped raise eighty subscriptions this week, one selling fifty and the other thirty.
Francis Peters, 14, son of Ernest Peters of 393 Chestnut Street, remains missing two weeks after disappearing from home. A basement door stays ajar each night and a smell lamp lights the room to aid his return.
Attendance across most schools was higher than expected with Yanta caw building showing gaps. Park School reached 80 percent, Washington 90 percent, overall about 97 percent of children present. Supt Beachler plans to shorten vacations and extend term while opposing Saturday sessions or holiday extensions.
Natley High leaves the Northern New Jersey Interscholastic League after local officials deem league opponents too strong. Elections for the senior class and athletic association begin next week with junior and sophomore polls to follow. A basketball manager and captain will be chosen. practice starts Monday October 23 with a 15 game limit set by Principal Tillinghast.
A car collision afternoon near the Nutley Lawn Tennis Club involved a Paige car driven by Mrs. Walter F. Ormabee and a Ford. The Ford driver swerved into Mrs. Ormabee's vehicle as he attempted a corner. no one injured except the Ford owner, who sustained cuts and bruises. Ormabee’s car was towed after hours of work to restart.
