Grandmams Meeting Republicans To Hang On Monday Night

Nutley Republicans plan a mass meeting at the First Ward Republican Club rooms on Monday night at 8. Speakers include Assemblymen Pennington and Taylor and William H Parry secretary of the State Republican League. Club president Dr A H Van Riper will chair. The meeting invites any nonmember voters to enroll in the club as the party seeks a large turnout.

New Members For Juniors Meet at Nutley Masonic Hall

A stated meeting of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics of Nutley will be held in Masonic Hall Dutig building next Friday evening the 14th inst. A large class initiation under newly elected officers is expected with visitors from other lodges. The lodge meets twice monthly the second and fourth Friday evenings at Masonic Hall Wittig building.

Nutley A. C. C. defeated the Nationals of Newark 21 to 0 in a Saturday football game. A Nationals player sprained an ankle and left the field. Today Nutley faces the Rutherford eleven in another park contest expected to draw attendance.

Elliott Conservatory Announces New Music Classes and Scholarships

The Ellott Conservatory of Music begins classes in piano theory harmony history sightsinging and violin with scholarships for piano and violin to be awarded by the 15th. A special feature is the Elliott system of kindergarten teaching at the Franklin Avenue location four doors north of Chestout Street.

Nutley Methodist Church to Dedicate Edifice With Week of Services

The Nutley Methodist Episcopal Church marks its fifty year dedication with a seven day program from October 9 including sermons by notable pastors from Newark Paterson and Passaic and a rally day by the Sunday School. A reception and greetings from local Reformed and Congregational Churches are planned October 10 with a chorus led by Professor Smith providing music for all events.

Meredith Named Essex County Public Institutions Superintendent

The State Board of Education in Trenton appointed A. B. Meredith of Nutley as Superintendent of Public Institutions of Essex County. He will oversee the county school system except Newark, and also serves as Nutley public schools superintendent, Nutley High principal, and Nutley Board of Education clerk.

Corner Stone to be placed for Masonic Hall Association

This afternoon the corner stone of the Masonic Hall Association building at Franklin avenue and High street will be set by association officers. Delegates from nearby Masonic lodges and Nutley Lodge, F. and A. M., are invited. No speeches marked. a luncheon will follow at a nearby hostelry.

Post Office Closes During Payne Funeral Hours

Friday post office operations halted from 10 p m to 1 p m for the funeral of Postmaster General Payne. Local staff paused mail handling and services during the tribute period.

Nutley Board Approves Using Stores for Overflow Classes

At an adjourned Board of Education meeting the special committee's plan to house seventh and third grade overflow in local stores was adopted. Estimated cost about 1100 with net town expense near 550 after state funds and abandoned evening classes. Superintendent to start immediately and two more teachers plus janitors to be hired.

Tax sale in council chambers yields few parcels

Collec Dr Van Riper presided on Tuesday afternoon as about a dozen parcels were offered for sale to those with pecuniary interest and the remainder bought by the town’s doctor for the town’s account. Further sales may be offered in the near future.

An oyster supper will be held in the lecture rooms of Resort Church on Tuesday October under the auspices of the organization. Proceeds will be given to the Organ Fund.

Kempton Council entertains large crowd at Park School

The Royal Arcanum program at Park School Auditorium Tuesday drew wide attendance with repeated encores. The event, part of the Social Feature series, credited Orator St John and the Entertainment Committee for smooth conduct. Kempton Council meets Monday at Masonic Hall with Dr A H Van Riper presenting Physics and Hygiene. Members in town are invited.
