Two Italians Angelo Marino and Angelo Irania of Centre street were arrested by Chanceman John Jameson and fined $1 by Recorder W H Parry for building a fence on Sunday. A permit existed for eight small houses, they said Sunday work was their only chance. Jose Litanio was arrested for building without a permit but pleaded ignorance later. Councilmen Callahan and Weischeder pressed the action, noting Sunday work by Italians as a nuisance and tying thefts of produce to similar behavior.
