Wedding Gift Reaches Couple On First Anniversary

A delayed wedding present finally reached Mr. and Mrs. George Krehbiel of Melrose Street just before their first anniversary. The silver sugar shell and hand painted lemonade set, sent from Newport by Rev. Gustavus A. Hulbert, wandered through rail lines and was found at the D L and W Delawanna station. It had been in transit for months and was traced by tracers from Newport and Newark before arriving.

The Avondale Hose Co held its annual reception and dance at Town Hall Auditorium with many local firefighters and visiting guests. Girl athlete foils attack near home in Newark

Miss Anna M Donaldson a four year High School basketball player fought off a man who assaulted her on Highfield Lane near her home. She described the assailant as White from Hampton Place, shouted he knew her, and pursued her to her house where she escaped and raised the alarm. Police seek the culprit and question nearby witnesses.

Nutley and Ridgewood Play in Bridge Tournament

Nutley and Ridgewood begin a six match duplicate bridge series at one venue with Nutley women facing Ridgewood players. Nutley leads early as local enthusiasts cheer the contest and a $12 pot and two 36 prizes are planned. Team members include Mrs. William Forman Dabney and four others.

Marjorie Clements ten and Everett Clements eight gave a large framed picture to Yantacaw School Kindergarten in memory of Hartley Clements killed by an automobile in Ocean Grove in summer 1910. The piece is titled A Little Child Shall Lead Them.

An uneasy Town Hall meeting on the Commission Government plan drew about one hundred people as officials demanded a $12 rental for the hall.
